Moye to Reunite in Atlanta
for a Special 15 Year Anniversary Show on August 15

Fifteen years ago, in the distant year 2000, a group of five musicians began writing music and playing gigs around New York City. The band, which eventually became Moye, consisted of drummer Matt Katz, cellist Linnea Weiss, guitarist Ben Haber, bassist Whit Lanier, and piano player and vocalist John Moye. Over the three years that followed, Moye would play shows up and down the East Coast, would release two full length albums and a two-song EP, and would gradually gain a fan base. In 2002, they played sell-out shows at both the Knitting Factory in New York and Smith's Olde Bar in Atlanta; they also played shows at the legendary Paradise Club in Boston, the Wetlands and the Mercury Lounge in New York, the Black Cat in Washington, D.C., and the Emerald Lounge in Asheville. In 2002, the Village Voice described them as a "best kept secret" of the NYC music scene, and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution praised their songs as "quietly timeless, gem-like wonders that ranked a cut above."

And then, in 2002, the group disbanded-moving to different cities, pursuing other interests, and never again playing a public live set together. They went out with a final "swan song" EP, entitled And the Band Played Satin Doll-which was recorded over a weekend and sold online-and they played their "farewell show" in New York in the spring of that year. Friends and fans occasionally mourned the band's passing. But, as Mark Twain once wrote, rumors of the band's death were greatly exaggerated...

Now, fifteen years after their initial formation, Moye will be reuniting for a special "one night only" reunion show at Smith's Olde Bar in Atlanta-the club that the band called its "home away from home" for so many years. The show, which will take place on Saturday, August 15, will be the first time the band has played publicly since 2003-and will feature a full set of well-known originals and covers (as well as perhaps a few special guests). The band is honored to be joined on the bill by Atlanta's own Penny Western -which shares a bass player with Moye. Penny Western will kick off the festivities, with Moye to follow.

Doors for the show will open at 6PM and ticket demand is expected to be high. Tickets will be available for purchase through starting on soon. Save the date and start making plans! This will be a special night of music-a splendid time is guaranteed for all!
